“3 weeks after we signed a 2 year lease on a home, we walked out our front door and noticed a big sticker on it. We didn’t know what it was. After we called our Property Manager and he looked into it, we found out that the Landlord was already in foreclosure. We were so upset and couldn’t believe that he rented us a place that was already in foreclosure and he didn’t even know it.
My husband isn’t young anymore and I have a lung disease. The constant moving and stress of it is too much for us. We’re exhausted and we don’t trust like we used to. This experience has really left a mark on us. I don’t think we’ll ever recover emotionally or financially from this.
If we had known about the foreclosure ahead of time, we would have never signed that lease. We will never rent a place again without getting a Lemon Landlord Property Report first.”

It took me years to get my business built up. I worked very hard at it. In April 2009, I was told that our Landlord was in foreclosure. I had to either come up with $18,000 immediately to stay in my work space or move out in 5 days. I didn’t have $18,000 that I could just pay out so we moved our entire business in 5 days. It was tough, it was unexpected, and it was extremely disruptive to my business.
Last year we were doing $500,000 per quarter in revenue with 14 employees. Today we are down to 2 employees and are in the process of shutting down the business. It has been absolutely devastating, especially when you feel like you did nothing wrong.
Had I known about the Landlord’s foreclosure ahead of time, instead of a 5 day window, I could have made many different decisions.”
